Cheryl Leef
Because I spent my early years on a Wyoming farm/ranch then the ensuing years in Southern Colorado, the result is that I love the outdoors! Being in nature is where I’m happiest.
My aim is to capture nature—its perfection and its flaws—in my art. Delight is to be found in a wing, a bud, a twig, a sunset, and fur. I am also drawn to things with a sense of antiquity: Rocks, roots, trees, wood, and old houses all hold a fascination.
I do a lot of painting in oils because I love the flow and depth of color in oil paint. I also work in mixed media, where anything and everything could end up in an art piece, including wood, twigs, and rocks.
Oils, pastels, mixed media, botanical art.
